Taking part in the official opening of the Shenkman Arts Centre today, Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa–Orléans, issued the following statement:

The Shenkman Arts Centre is a shining example of what a community can do when it is determined, focused and dedicated. I would like to extend my most sincere congratulations to all those who have made this project possible. This day represents the culmination of 20 years of hard work.

This Centre will be a pillar for our community as it shares the wonders of local artistic talents. I am proud of the support that the Government of Canada has pledged in order to create and expand upon programming at this institution. Today is already the third time that I attend an event here. My wife and I look forward to being in regular attendance.

The Shenkman Arts Centre has said its vision is to be “…Ottawa’s east end creative hub for bilingual multidisciplinary arts.” This is a goal worthy of our continued support. I look forward to doing all I can to ensure a strong and vibrant arts community in Ottawa–Orléans now, and into the future.
