Royal Galipeau
Committee Business

Committees are an important part of the mandate of a Parliamentarian.  As Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Orléans, Royal Galipeau is Vice-Chair of the Joint House of Commons and Senate Standing Committee on the Scrutiny of Regulations (REGS) and a member of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage (CHPC).

The Joint House of Commons and Senate Standing Committee on the Scrutiny of Regulations (REGS) studies particular regulations that may be in contradiction with one another or may impede the success or progress of individuals, businesses, organizations or government institutions. They make recommendations to departments and Ministers regarding certain regulations and seek to streamline the operations of government. As Vice-Chair of this committee, Royal Galipeau spends a small amount of time dealing with procedural and administrative tasks from this committee.

The House of Commons Standing on Canadian Heritage (CHPC) studies all legislative matters as they relate to the Department of Canadian Heritage (except for Official Languages which has its own committee).  The committee also has further jurisdiction to monitor the implementation of the principles of the federal multiculturalism policy throughout the Government of Canada.
